Ford F-250 / F-350 Bed Racks

The F-250 and F-350 share their pickup boxes, so one rack fits both. Ford redesigned the box for the 2017 aluminum-body trucks, so every rack menu splits at 1999–2016 and 2017+; 2023-and-newer trucks use the 2017+ option.

• 6¾-ft box: about 82" of floor, takes a 72" rack. Rack menus list it as "Regular Bed (6.5ft)".
• 8-ft box: about 98" of floor, takes an 84" rack. Only the XTR3 comes in this length; its middle uprights hold up the long side braces, which a four-upright XTR1 can't do at 84".

Not sure which box you have? Measure the floor from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate. Soft topper racks and the XO.SKLTN start at the 2011 model year, and the XO.SKLTN fits the 6¾-ft box only.

The Super Duty's cab roof sits 25" above the top of the bed rail, measured the same way as our rack heights. A 24" cab-height rack sits 1" below the roofline, and a 17" mid-height rack sits 8" below it. XBRS bars, at 6" or 8", keep loads just above a tonneau cover.

For a rooftop tent that reaches over the cab, we recommend at least 1" of clearance above the roof: a Custom Height rack at 26", or a 24" rack with a 2" tent riser (our XTR Tent Riser Kit is coming soon). Roof clearance lights, an antenna or a roof rack add height, so measure to the top of those if your truck has them.

• Dynamic off-road: the load the rack carries while moving over rough trails.
• Dynamic on-road: the load while driving on pavement.
• Static: the load while parked, which is the number that covers a rooftop tent with people sleeping in it.

All ratings assume the load is spread evenly, and your bed rails' rating applies if it's lower. The rack and everything on it also count toward the payload on the Tire and Loading Information label in the driver's door jamb.

• Open bed, or a soft or roll-up tonneau: the XTR1 and XTR3 racks above ship on Wide Width brackets that sit 3" above the bed rails, so most soft and roll-up covers keep working underneath. Tri-fold covers fit but can't fold all the way open. XBRS with the Universal Mount also rides above most covers.
• Retrax XR or EQ: the XTR3 Retrax rack (either box) or the XTR1 Retrax rack (6¾-ft box) bolts to the cover's T-slot rails. XBRS also comes with a Retrax XR mount.
• Softopper, Fas-Top or Bestop (2011 and newer): the XTR3 Soft Topper rack (either box) or the XTR1 Soft Topper rack (6¾-ft box), built at 13.3° to clear the fabric.

Any of the four XTR3 versions (Stage Packages, Custom Height, Retrax or Soft Topper) is offered for the long box. The XTR1 isn't. If you only need low-profile bars, XBRS fits either box.

Yes. Mount it with our stainless Rooftop Tent Brackets and keep the tent, the people in it and the rest of your gear within the static rating parked and the dynamic ratings on the move. If the tent reaches over the 25" cab roof, plan on 26" of rack height, or 24" plus a 2" riser.

No. The XTR racks clamp to the Super Duty's bed rails with the pinch plates included in the box, the Retrax versions bolt to the cover's T-slot rails, and XBRS also installs without drilling.

Yes. Both trucks share the same 6¾-ft and 8-ft boxes. Choose your year range (1999–2016 or 2017+) and your box length.

Yes. To change an XTR rack's height, use the XTR1/3 Alternate Height and Conversion Kit for the F-250 with a side and top brace set and Off-Road Reinforcement Plates for the new height. XBRS bed bars convert into a full XTR1 rack, and from there into an XTR3; the XBRS listing walks through the parts.
