Bed racks for the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon, second generation (2015–2022, 5'2" or 6'2" box) and third generation (2023 on, 5'2" box). Colorado and Canyon beds are identical, so any rack below fits either truck. Like the Ranger and Tacoma, the Colorado and Canyon take our six-upright XTR3 with an open bed, not just on a Retrax, so you're choosing between four uprights and six, a height, and the cover underneath. XTR1 and XTR3 racks are built to order, to your height requirements. They use T-slot profile construction, install without drilling and are made in Wichita, Kansas.

Second gen or third gen? Pick the right menu option
Second-generation trucks were sold from the 2015 model year through 2022 with a 5'2" short box or a 6'2" long box, and they take the "2015–2022" options in the rack menus. Third-generation trucks, 2023 and newer, come with the 5'2" box only and use the "2023+" option.
Choosing a height
The 15" mid-height rack keeps the profile down and is simple to load from the tailgate, and it uses 12x9 MOLLE plates. Choose 21.5" (cab height) for more space under the rack; it uses 16x11 plates. Soft topper racks come at 20" or 21", the XO.SKLTN at 16" or 23", and Custom Height racks anywhere from 10" to 26". If a rooftop tent will reach over the cab, or you run a roof rack, take a tape from the bed rail up to the highest point of the cab or roof rack and add at least 1".
Reading the ratings
Each rack lists three ratings. Off-road covers dirt and trail driving, on-road covers highway miles with gear up top, and static covers the truck at rest, which is what matters for a rooftop tent with people inside. The numbers assume an evenly spread load, and whatever is on the rack, plus the rack, counts against the payload on the door-jamb sticker.
Covers that work under the rack
-
Soft and roll-up tonneaus: Wide Width brackets, which come with most racks, raise the rack 3" over the bed rails, enough for most of these covers to keep working. Tri-fold covers fit, though they can't fold completely open. Standard Width brackets sit 1.35" above the rails if you'd rather keep the rack low.
-
Retrax XR: choose the Retrax XR version of the XTR1 or XTR3, or XBRS with the Retrax XR mount. See Colorado and Canyon bed covers if you still need the cover.
-
Softopper, Fas-Top or Bestop: the XTR1 or XTR3 Soft Topper rack.
-
Other covers with T-slot rails: send us the cover model before ordering so we can check its rail measurements.
Colorado and Canyon bed rack questions
Will a Colorado bed rack fit my GMC Canyon?
Yes. Each listing covers both trucks. Pick the same generation and box length for either badge.
Can I get an XTR3 without a Retrax?
Yes. On the Colorado and Canyon the XTR3 Pre-configured and XTR3 Custom Height bolt straight to the bed rails, and the Retrax and Soft Topper versions are there if you run those covers.
What fits the 6'2" long box?
On 2015–2022 trucks, the XTR1, the XTR3, their Retrax and Soft Topper builds, both Custom Height racks and the XO.SKLTN all come in a long-box version. Trucks from 2023 on were built with the 5'2" box only.
Can I keep my tonneau cover?
Most likely. Soft and roll-up covers keep working under Wide Width brackets, a Retrax XR pairs with the Retrax version of the rack, and soft toppers have their own rack. For other covers with built-in rails, email us first.
Will it carry a rooftop tent?
Yes. Our stainless Rooftop Tent Brackets fasten it to the crossbars. Add up the tent, whoever sleeps in it and any other gear on the rack, and stay within the parked rating.
Can I change the rack's height later?
Yes. Order the Colorado/Canyon Alternate Height and Conversion Kit in the new height, along with braces and reinforcement plates cut for it. The same kit converts an XTR1 into an XTR3, and XBRS bars can step up to a full XTR1.
