Fits 2005 and newer Toyota Tacoma — 2nd gen (2005–2015), 3rd gen (2016–2023) and 4th gen (2024+), 5-ft short bed and 6-ft long bed. Designed and built in Wichita, Kansas.
The XO.SKLTN is a Toyota Tacoma camper shell that starts life as a bed rack. Order the rack alone and run it open for rooftop tents, bikes and recovery gear; add the topper panel kit when you're ready and it becomes a fully enclosed aluminum bed cap with hinged, full-access side panels and a locking rear hatch. Every piece is T-slot profile construction, so lights, MOLLE panels, awnings and crossbars bolt on anywhere along the rails without drilling.
⚠️ BEFORE YOU ORDER — HOW THIS MOUNTS TO YOUR TACOMA
- 2016–2023 (3rd gen) and 2024+ (4th gen): the XO.SKLTN mounts to the Tacoma's factory deck rail system in the composite bed. Most Tacomas come with the deck rails from the factory. If yours didn't, pick up the Toyota deck rail kit from your Toyota dealer before your XO.SKLTN arrives.
- 2005–2015 (2nd gen): mounts with pinch plates on the bed rail. The pinch plates are included in every 2005–2015 kit — nothing extra to order.
Why the Tacoma version is its own design
Three generations of Tacoma share one listing, but they don't share one kit. Pick your years and bed length in the dropdown and you get a frame cut to that truck: the 2005–2023 racks run 55" (short bed) and 68" (long bed) bed rails, while the 2024+ racks run 54" and 67" to match the 4th gen's bed. Topper crossbars, side braces and MOLLE panels follow the same split, so every part you add later is sized to your generation.
The 2024+ Tacoma gets more than new lengths. Its Full Height topper uses a taller 15.5" base component (the 2005–2023 Full Height uses 14.7"), so the cap finishes about an inch taller to suit the 4th gen's cab. Because the 4th gen's front header rail sits differently, every 2024+ kit ships with our front filler plate, which closes the gap at the front of the bed under the front brace before the bed seal goes on — the spot where Tacoma toppers usually leak. The 2016–2023 and 2024+ racks clamp to the factory deck rails; the 2005–2015 racks, whose beds predate the deck rail layout we use, ship with pinch plates instead.
All three generations use our standard 13° corner brackets, mid-size XO.SKLTN MOLLE panels, and the Tacoma-length topper crossbars (51.8" Mid Height, 49" Full Height) and side braces (56" for 2005–2023, 55" for 2024+) sold as add-ons.
Choose your height (measured from the top of the bed rail)
- Mid Height (16") — the low-profile build. Keeps a rooftop tent and cargo low for garage and trail clearance. Topper side panels carry up to 100 lb per side.
- Full Height (23"; about 24" on 2024+) — maximum enclosed cargo room and the most headroom over a sleeping platform. Side panels carry up to 150 lb per side. The upcoming window option is Full Height only.

Order Stage 1 now and add the XO.SKLTN Topper Panel Add-On Kit for Toyota Tacoma later — same height and bed length required. Total system weight approximately 110–135 lb depending on stage.
MOLLE panels mount differently in each mode. In bed-rack mode (Stage 1B) they bolt straight to the frame with panel brackets. In topper mode (Stage 2B) they mount to the topper side panels on a side brace set — either the 15-series 3075 braces or the lighter 10-series 1050 pair. Every stage ships with the brackets its MOLLE panels need; see the FAQ if you plan to start with 1B and add the topper later.
Load ratings
450 lb dynamic off-road, 850 lb dynamic on-road, 1,550 lb static (evenly distributed), or your Tacoma's bed-rail and payload rating, whichever is lower. The rack's own weight counts against payload.
What's included (Stage 2A / 2B)
Rack frame with eight billet corner brackets and bracket covers; deck rail mounts (2016+) or pinch plates (2005–2015); front filler plate (2024+); double-bulb bed seal; front, rear, two side and three top panels; six billet hinges; gas struts; keyed quarter-turn locks on both side panels and the rear hatch; corner seal brackets with EPDM panel seal; front brace bar; black RTV silicone; thread locker; all hardware. Stage 1 kits include the frame, mounts, covers and MOLLE panels.
Weather tight, not waterproof
The topper is a modular, bolt-together design and is guaranteed weather tight when installed per the instructions with the supplied RTV silicone at the seams. It is not a molded fiberglass shell, so keep electronics in the side-panel areas protected.
Grows with your Tacoma
Add XO.SKLTN MOLLE Panels, the Front MOLLE Panel, Topper Crossbars, Awning Mounts (either side, 270° awnings up to 80 lb), the Gear Cage for inside-wall storage, and the third brake/chase light housing. The XO.SKLTN camper-mode tent — a removable pass-through tent that mounts to the topper — is rolling out in late 2026.
Toyota Tacoma XO.SKLTN — FAQ
Do I need the factory deck rail system?
On a 2016–2023 or 2024+ Tacoma, yes. The XO.SKLTN clamps to the deck rails, which spread the load across the composite bed instead of pulling on a single bolt. Most Tacomas come with them from the factory; if yours didn't, pick up the Toyota deck rail kit from your Toyota dealer before you install. On a 2005–2015 Tacoma the rack mounts with pinch plates, and those are in the box.
Will it fit my 2024+ (4th gen) Tacoma? Is it the same as the 3rd gen kit?
It fits, and it's a different kit. The 4th gen bed is an inch shorter, so the 2024+ racks are cut to 54" (short bed) and 67" (long bed), the Full Height topper uses a taller 15.5" base component, and every 2024+ kit includes the front filler plate for the 4th gen's header rail. Pick "2024+" in the dropdown and the right parts ship.
Does a 2nd gen kit fit a 3rd gen, or a 3rd gen kit fit a 4th gen?
No. The 3rd gen's taller bed rails and curved tailgate are why 2nd gen shells don't seal on a 3rd gen, and the 4th gen bed is shorter with a different header rail. Each generation gets its own rack lengths, mounts and panels, so order for the truck you have. If you change trucks later, contact us about swapping the generation-specific parts.
How tall is it?
Measured from the top of the bed rail: Mid Height is 16" on every generation. Full Height is 23" on 2005–2023 Tacomas and about 24" on 2024+.
Short bed or long bed?
Order by your bed, not your cab. Short bed is the 5-ft bed (most Double Cabs); long bed is the 6-ft bed (Access Cabs and Double Cab Long Beds). Both are available for all three generations, in Mid and Full Height.
Tacoma toppers leak at the front rail. Does this one?
The front header rail is the usual leak point on a Tacoma cap. The XO.SKLTN seals to the bed with a double-bulb bed seal under the frame, the panels seal to the frame on EPDM, and RTV silicone is supplied for the seams. On 2024+ trucks the included front filler plate closes the gap under the front brace before the seal goes on. The system is guaranteed weather tight, not waterproof — see below.
I'm coming from a Softopper. What's different?
You keep the open-bed flexibility and gain hard aluminum sides, keyed locks, MOLLE mounting on the panels, a flat top rated for a rooftop tent, and a path to a camper: the same XO.SKLTN rack that runs open today takes the topper panels and, when it releases, the camper-mode tent. Nothing to swap out as you go.
Can I sleep in it on a bed platform?
Yes. Full Height gives the most headroom over a platform; Mid Height works for a low platform and a thin mattress. For true in-bed camping, the camper-mode tent (late 2026) adds a removable pass-through tent above the topper with a 94" internal length and a 70" mattress length on a standard 3" mattress.
Will it fit a 1st gen (1995–2004) Tacoma?
Not currently. The XO.SKLTN for Tacoma covers 2005 and newer.
Can I run a rooftop tent or crossbars on top?
Yes, in bed-rack mode or on the topper. On the topper, a tent mounts directly to the top panels up to 400 lb dynamic, or to the XO.SKLTN Topper Crossbars up to 250 lb dynamic; static capacity is 1,550 lb either way.
Will my Tacoma sag?
The system weighs about 110–135 lb depending on stage, all T-slot aluminum — in the range of the lightest aluminum caps made for the Tacoma and well under a fiberglass shell. The weight sits on the bed rails, so most owners see little or no rear drop. Count the rack's weight against your payload when you load up.
Can I reach the bed from the cab?
The standard front panel is solid for the tightest weather seal, so there's no pass-through today. A window option — front and rear windows, with a front window that opens for access through the Tacoma's rear slider — is in development for Full Height toppers only. If cab access matters to you, order Full Height so you can add it when it releases.
Does it lock?
Yes. The side panels and the rear hatch each close on keyed quarter-turn locks — one key for both side panels, a separate key for the rear hatch (both included). An optional Pop & Lock power lock for the rear hatch, operated from your key fob, is coming soon.
Is it waterproof?
Weather tight, not waterproof. It's a modular bolt-together topper that seals with RTV silicone at the seams during install; keep electronics inside protected.
Can I install it myself?
Yes, and most owners do. The bed rack frame takes 2–4 hours; the topper takes a full day to a full weekend depending on your experience, with a helper for hanging the side and rear panels. Thread locker, bed seal, EPDM seal and RTV are in the box; you supply Allen keys, wrenches, a rubber mallet, a flat screwdriver and masking tape. No drilling. Prefer to have us do it? I bought Stage 1B. If I add the topper later, can I reuse my MOLLE panels?
Yes — the panels carry over, but the brackets don't. In bed-rack mode the MOLLE panels bolt to the frame with panel brackets; in topper mode they mount to the side panels on a brace set (3075 or 1050), so you'll need the topper-mode brackets when you upgrade. Can I get it in a custom color?
Custom colors may be available for a $600 upcharge. Because the parts are finished to order, a custom color extends the lead time. Contact customer service at [email protected] before you order and we'll confirm the color, cost and timing for your build.
How does it ship?
In several boxes: three for the topper panels (front and rear, sides, tops), one for the frame, and more for MOLLE panels or accessories. They sometimes arrive a day or two apart, so don't worry if the first box shows up alone — check your pack list once everything's in.
Is it made in the USA?
Yes — designed and built in Wichita, Kansas. (The camper-mode tent will incorporate select global components.)

Any potential delay that occurs in the sourcing, processing, or drop shipment at the third party level will be communicated to the best of our ability to the customer.

The estimated lead time provided when you placed your order is JUST AN ESTIMATE. It is not a guarantee that the product will be shipped on that date. The estimated lead time gives you some sense of what the current times to source, cut, pack and ship takes. Many times the lead time can be shorter, but likewise it can extend, depending on factors such as previous demand and current supply. We manufacture many components in house, but extenuating circumstances such as down time for maintenance or unscheduled downtimes for repairs might impact dates as well as delays related to our sourced components. There is a constant flow of parts and shipments, and sometimes the visibility becomes a challenge to pinpoint exactly when your product will ship.
Feel free to check on your order at any time. Be aware that our customer service team may not be able to give you an exact date for completion but rest assured we are tracking your order and it will be built in the order that it was received.
Xtrusion Overland also reserves the right to cancel items from an order, offer an alternative substitution or issue refund accordingly when product is delayed at an unacceptable time frame or at the request of the customer.

How do I know it fits my truck?
Select your exact year and bed length in the configurator — each XO.SKLTN is machined to that fitment. If you're unsure which bed you have, reach out and we'll confirm before you order.
What's the difference between the build stages?
Stage 1 is the open aluminum bed rack. Stage 2 adds the flush-mount topper panel kit to fully enclose it. Either can be optioned with MOLLE panels. You can start at any stage and add the rest later — it all bolts to the same frame.
Mid Height vs Full Height — which do I pick?
Mid height keeps a lower, sleeker profile; full height maximizes interior room under the topper. Both share the same T-slot frame and billet corners — it comes down to how much enclosed space you want.
Does it require assembly?
Yes — it ships flat and you build it. Plan on roughly 2–6 hours for the bed rack and another 4–8 to add the topper. Prefer it done for you? Assembled pickup is available in Kansas.
