Our posted lead times are only estimations and rely on various factors, many times outside of our control. Historic challenging times within our industry have caused ripples in the supply chain world that have repercussions even on the smallest of components at times. As you would imagine, many companies in our industry are experiencing the same.

Our bed racks are super cool, with the ability to be customized. But this causes a series of challenges due to the thousands of possible combinations regarding compatibility, availability, etc. However, we are constantly aiming at improving our processes, hiring and training our people to achieve a reliable fulfillment process.

If you have additional questions about our lead times, please check our current estimations and reach out to our team if you need additional information. We thank you for your continued support and patience as we improve our processes.

While we would do our best to accommodate a specific need, please do not plan any trips or outings based on the estimated lead times.

THIRD PARTY PRODUCTS

Xtrusion Overland started supplying various brands that go hand in hand with our own products, to provide a complete service and help us grow. This includes products that are drop shipped. Please be advised that availability and lead times of those product are solely impacted by the third-party vendor's schedule. Many products are sold under an open inventory method, as the technology to sync inventories is limited, therefore please reach out if a specific product is needed by a specific date for us to double check with the supplier for you!

Any potential delay that occurs in the sourcing, processing, or drop shipment at the third party level will be communicated to the best of our ability to the customer.

ESTIMATED DATE  |  LEAD TIMES

The estimated lead time provided when you placed your order is JUST AN ESTIMATE. It is not a guarantee that the product will be shipped on that date. The estimated lead time gives you some sense of what the current times to source, cut, pack and ship takes. Many times the lead time can be shorter, but likewise it can extend, depending on factors such as previous demand and current supply. We manufacture many components in house, but extenuating circumstances such as down time for maintenance or unscheduled downtimes for repairs might impact dates as well as delays related to our sourced components. There is a constant flow of parts and shipments, and sometimes the visibility becomes a challenge to pinpoint exactly when your product will ship.

Feel free to check on your order at any time. Be aware that our customer service team may not be able to give you an exact date for completion but rest assured we are tracking your order and it will be built in the order that it was received.

Xtrusion Overland also reserves the right to cancel items from an order, offer an alternative substitution or issue refund accordingly when product is delayed at an unacceptable time frame or at the request of the customer.

Rack Angle Guide

Overland Rack Angle Compatibility

One Angle.
Every Build.

XTR bed racks use three rack angles — 9°, 13°, and 20° — each matched to specific vehicle setups and accessory families. Find the right angle for your build so every rail, crossbar, and mounting kit lines up perfectly.

Engineered quality

CNC billet strength

We didn't just join the strong extrusions with some sheet metal corner brackets — we put the aluminum where it makes a difference. Every angle variant uses the same 6061-T6 Aerospace grade billet, machined to precision to join all components with exact angular alignment.

  • ✓ All three angles share the same billet standard
  • ✓ 9°, 13°, and 20° brackets machined to exact specs
  • ✓ No sheet metal corners — pure aerospace aluminum
CNC billet corner brackets for XTR bed racks — available in 9°, 13°, and 20° angles

Angle Compatibility

Rack Angle Product Line Compatible Accessories
9° Gladiator Series All Gladiator bed racks (XTR1, XTR3 and XBRS), Gladiator mounting kits, Gladiator-specific crossbars, including Softopper versions on Gladiator.
13° Soft Topper Series Soft Topper bed racks for all truck models (except Gladiator).
20° Universal / Crossbars All XTR1, XTR3, XBRS Bed Racks, universal mounting rails, standard rack accessories (except Gladiator or Softopper)
9-degree Gladiator rail crossbar — XTR Gladiator series rack angle
9° angle

Gladiator Series

The 9° angle is dedicated to the Gladiator product line. This angle was engineered specifically for Gladiator rails and their mounting geometry, ensuring a flush, secure connection between your rails and any Xtrusion add-on accessories. This includes Softopper Gladiator Builds and XBRS for Gladiator.

Xo Skeleton Note: The XO.SKLTN Uses a complete different system not to be confused with Gladiator XTR 9 Degree components.

13-degree Soft Topper rail crossbar — XTR Soft Topper series rack angle
13° angle

Soft Topper Series

The 13° angle serves Soft Topper products. This intermediate angle provides the right compromise between load clearance and low profile when mounting accessories to Soft Topper rails and their compatible hardware.

Crossbars: XTR1 and XTR3 use 13° when mounted on Soft Topper setups.

20-degree universal rack crossbar — XTR universal and crossbar series
20° angle

Universal / Crossbars

The 20° angle is the default for all other Xtrusion products — universal mounting rails, standard crossbars, and general overland rack accessories. This is the most common angle in the industry and works with the widest range of roof rack and truck bed rack systems.

XBRS: XBRS crossbars use 20° components, the same as XTR1 and XTR3, so the joints stay compatible if you upgrade to a full rack. The one exception is XBRS for the Jeep Gladiator, which uses 9°.

Quick Reference

Xo Skeleton — Angle Breakdown

The Xo Skeleton uses two angles Gladiator Specific or Universal. However, some accessories might be compatible with both, because the top rail consolidates both angles into one. Crossbar mounts or awning mounts are compatible with both versions.

9° Angle

XOSKLTN Gladiator
Xo Skeleton Gladiator 9-degree angle
  • Gladiator rail mounts
  • Gladiator-specific hardware
  • Gladiator crossbar slots

13° Angle

XOSKLTN
Xo Skeleton Soft Topper 13-degree angle
  • Soft Topper rail mounts
  • Soft Topper mounting kits
  • Soft Topper crossbar slots

Note: The Xo Skeleton never uses the 20° angle.

How To Choose

The Right Rack Angle,
Explained

Every XTR accessory — crossbars, mounting brackets, add-on hardware — is cut for one specific angle. The right angle depends on your primary rail system or vehicle setup. Choosing the matching angle ensures every component in your build aligns correctly and carries load as designed.

  • Identify your rail system. Gladiator = 9°, Soft Topper = 13°, universal = 20°.
  • Check your crossbar type. XTR1/XTR3 come in all three — order the one matching your rails.
  • Stick to one angle per build. Mixing angles creates misalignment and stress points.
What determines the rack angle I need? +
Your rack angle is determined by your primary rail system or vehicle setup. Gladiator rails use 9°, Soft Topper setups use 13°, and universal or standard rack accessories use 20°. Choosing the matching angle ensures every accessory — crossbars, mounting brackets, and add-ons — aligns correctly.
Can I use a 20° crossbar with a Gladiator rail? +
No. Gladiator rails are engineered for 9° accessories. Using a 20° crossbar on a Gladiator rail will result in misalignment and improper load transfer. Always match your crossbar angle to your rail system.
Do Soft Toppers and Gladiator rails use the same angle? +
No. Soft Toppers use a 13° angle while Gladiator rails use a 9° angle. These angles are not interchangeable. If you're building with both types, you'll need separate angle-specific accessory sets.
Are XTR1 and XTR3 crossbars angle-specific? +
XTR1 and XTR3 crossbars come in three angle variants — 9°, 13°, and 20° — to match each rack system. The 20° variant is the default and works with universal racks. The 13° variant is used when paired with Soft Topper setups. Order the angle that matches your primary rail system.
Why do overland racks use different angles? +
Different rack angles exist to accommodate varying vehicle roof geometries, rail profiles, and load requirements. The 9° angle works well with Gladiator-style tubular rails. The 13° angle provides a middle ground for Soft Topper mounting systems. The 20° angle is the industry standard for universal applications and offers maximum load clearance.

Description

For the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 from 1999 on, short bed or regular bed. Built in Wichita, Kansas.

Have a 2019? If your truck is a 2019 Silverado LD or Sierra 1500 Limited (the older body style, same as 2018), choose the 2014-2018 option. All other 2019 trucks use the 2019+ option.

Hauling ladders during the week and a tent on the weekend? The XTR1 is the open-sided rack we build for the Silverado and Sierra 1500: an aluminum upright in each corner, two crossbars across the top and nothing in between, so you can still load the bed from either side. It carries 850 lb on the road, holds 1,550 lb parked, and comes in two heights with Stage packages of MOLLE plates, AXS gates and full-length slide-outs. Like every XTR1, it's built to order, to your height requirements, in T-slot profile construction: every bar takes a bolt and T-nut, so lights, MOLLE plates, tent brackets and tie-downs go wherever you need them.

BEFORE YOU ORDER: WHAT'S ON YOUR SILVERADO OR SIERRA'S BED?

  • An open bed, or a soft or roll-up tonneau cover: this is your rack. It ships on our Wide Width brackets made for the Silverado and Sierra, which reach out past the bed rails and raise the rack 3" over them, so most soft and roll-up covers still open and close; a tri-fold works too, but it can't fold fully open under the rack. The Silverado and Sierra bed tapers, but the rack is built straight: the brackets take up the difference.
  • A Retrax XR: the XTR1 Silverado/Sierra 1500 rack for Retrax XR bolts to the cover's T-slot rails instead. It also comes as the six-upright XTR3 for Retrax XR.
  • Soft topper (Softopper, Fas-Top or Bestop), 2007 and newer: get the XTR1 Silverado/Sierra 1500 Soft Topper rack, with angled uprights that clear the fabric.
  • 8-ft long bed: we don't build the XTR1 for the long bed. Email [email protected] and we'll tell you what fits.
  • A Roll-N-Lock XT, Pace Edwards UltraGroove or another cover with its own T-slot rails: send us the cover model first and we'll check the fit.

Why the XTR1 on a Silverado or Sierra 1500

  • Rated for work and camp. 850 lb dynamic on the road for ladders, lumber and conduit, 450 lb dynamic off-road, and 1,550 lb static once you're parked, enough for a rooftop tent with people sleeping in it. All ratings are evenly distributed.
  • A full-size deck. The rack runs 61" on the short bed and 71" on the regular bed, with two crossbars and T-slot on every bar for tie-downs, light pods and tent brackets.
  • Open sides. With nothing between the corner uprights, each side is one long opening. Reach in from the side, add a full-length slide-out tray made for your 61" or 71" rack, or fit an AXS gate, which lifts the side brace and its MOLLE plates clear when you need to get into the bed.
  • A tent mount with nothing hanging down. Our stainless Rooftop Tent Brackets hold a tent on the crossbars with short bolts that stay above the bar, so there's nothing to catch your head when you work in the bed. Four brackets (Standard Kit) run $49.90 and eight (Off-Road Kit) $98, with iKamper adapter plates as an option.
  • Stage packages that cost less. Bought as a Stage with the rack, the MOLLE plates, AXS gates and slide-outs arrive sized for your height and bed, and the package runs roughly $120 to $250 below the same parts ordered separately.

Choose your Stage

Stage What's added Good for
1 Rack only Tied for our most-ordered Silverado/Sierra XTR1 setup. Start with the rack and add parts as you go.
2 8 MOLLE plates MOLLE walls on both sides for straps, tool rolls, traction boards and a shovel
3a 8 MOLLE plates, 1 AXS gate, 1 slide-out Also tied for most-ordered: one side lifts for quick reach into the bed, plus a full-length tray for tools, a cooler or recovery gear
3b 8 MOLLE plates, 2 AXS gates Both sides lift, so you reach the whole bed without climbing in
3c 8 MOLLE plates, 2 slide-outs A full-length tray on each side for tools and heavy cases you'd rather not drag across the tailgate

About 7 in 10 of our Silverado and Sierra XTR1 buyers order a Stage with accessories rather than the rack alone. Photos may show accessories that are sold separately unless they're included in your Stage.

17" or 23" on a Silverado or Sierra 1500

  • 17" mid height keeps the rack lower, with less wind and an easier reach to the top. On a 2019+ truck its top sits 3" below the back edge of the cab. It uses the smaller 12x9 MOLLE plates.
  • 23" cab height is the taller of the two and the one about 6 in 10 of our Silverado and Sierra XTR1 buyers choose. On the trucks we've measured (2008–2018 and 2019+) its top sits 1" above the highest point of the cab roof, and it leaves more room in the bed under the rack for tall toolboxes, coolers and cases. It uses the larger 16x11 MOLLE plates.

Where the rack sits against the cab. Every body style has its own measurements. These are the ones we've taken:

Measured from the top of the bed rail 2008–2018 2019+ (not the 2019 LD / Limited)
Back edge of the cab — 20"
Highest point of the cab roof 22" 22"
12" (Custom Height) 10" below the roof 8" below the back edge of the cab
17" mid-height rack 5" below the roof 3" below the back edge of the cab
23" cab-height rack 1" above the roof 1" above the roof
24" (Custom Height) 2" above the roof 2" above the roof

The height chart in the photos shows both heights on the truck. Need something else? The XTR1 Custom Height Silverado/Sierra 1500 rack is built at any whole-inch height from 10" to 26".

Tent reaching over the cab? We recommend at least 1" of clearance between the tent and the cab. On 2008–2018 and 2019+ trucks the 23" rack gives exactly that over the roof; allow for the tent's base, its mounting hardware and anything on the roof. Running a roof rack, or a model year not in the table? Measure from the top of the bed rail to the tallest point of your cab, antenna or roof rack and plan for the tent to sit at least 1" above it. Tent risers are on the way: the XTR Tent Riser Kit is coming soon.

Which rack length fits your truck

The rack is cut to your bed, so pick your years and bed from the menu.

Model option Short bed Regular bed
2019+ (new body style) 61" 71"
2014–2018, plus 2019 Silverado LD and Sierra 1500 Limited 61" 71"
2007.5–2013 (2007 new body style) 61" 71"
1999–2007 Classic (including the 2007 Classic) 61" 71"

Most of the Silverado and Sierra XTR1 racks we build go on 2019+ short-bed trucks. We don't build the XTR1 for the 8-ft long bed. Have a 2500HD or 3500HD? See the Silverado/Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD XTR1.

In the box

All five Stages include the XTR1 rack:

  • 2 top crossbars and 4 uprights
  • 2 top support braces and 2 side braces (1530, black)
  • 4 Wide Width bed rail brackets and 4 top corner brackets
  • All screws and hardware for assembly
  • Black XTR Off-Road Reinforcement Plates — Set of 4, one per corner ($149 value)
  • Metal handle kit, set of 4 ($40 value)
  • 16 drop-in T-nuts, 5/16"-18 ($13 value)
  • 16 button head screws, 5/16"-18 x 5/8" ($16 value)

From Stage 2 up you also get 8 MOLLE plates: 12x9 for the 17" rack or 16x11 for the 23" rack. Stage 3a, 3b and 3c packages add XTR1 AXS gate kits, full-length slide-outs made for your 61" or 71" rack, or both. Rooftop Tent Brackets are sold separately.

Load rating

On the road the XTR1 is rated 850 lb dynamic, off-road 450 lb dynamic, and parked 1,550 lb static, with the load spread evenly; if your Silverado or Sierra's bed rails are rated lower, their rating is the limit. Ladders, cargo and a tent on the move count against the dynamic number. Once you stop, the tent and everyone sleeping in it count against the static number. The rack and everything on it also come out of your payload, shown on the tire and loading sticker in the driver's door jamb.

Chevy Silverado / GMC Sierra 1500 XTR1 Bed Rack: FAQ

Which year option do I pick for a 2007 or a 2019?

For a 2007, the Classic (old body style) uses 1999–2007 and the new body style uses 2007.5–2013. For a 2019, the Silverado LD and Sierra 1500 Limited use 2014–2018; every other 2019 uses 2019+. Not sure? Email us and we'll confirm.

Does it fit the 8-ft long bed?

No. We build the XTR1 for the short bed (61" rack) and the regular bed (71" rack). Email us about a long-bed truck and we'll tell you what fits.

Is there an XTR3 for the Silverado or Sierra 1500?

Only for trucks with a Retrax XR cover: the XTR3 for Retrax XR bolts to the cover's own T-slot rails. Without the Retrax, the XTR3 would have to mount at the bed's stake pockets, and we don't install racks on stake pockets, so the open-bed rack is the four-upright XTR1.

Can I use it as a Silverado ladder rack?

Yes. Extension ladders, lumber, conduit and pipe ride on the two crossbars above the bed, and long pieces can run over the cab or past the tailgate. Strap everything down and stay within 850 lb on the road.

Should I get 17" or 23"?

About 6 in 10 of our Silverado and Sierra owners choose 23" for the extra room in the bed under the rack, and on 2008–2018 and 2019+ trucks it sits 1" above the cab roof. 17" sits lower, catches less wind and is easier to reach. With a roof rack, or on a model year we haven't measured, measure from the bed rail to the tallest point of the cab, antenna or roof rack and keep at least 1" of clearance for anything that reaches over the cab; the XTR1 Custom Height rack is made to any height from 10" to 26".

Can I put a rooftop tent on it?

Yes. Bolt the tent to the crossbars with our Rooftop Tent Brackets. Once you're parked it's rated 1,550 lb static, evenly spread (or your bed rails' rating if that's lower): add up the tent, the people inside and whatever is still on the rack.

How do I get into the bed with gear on top?

Through the side. AXS gates swing a side brace, MOLLE plates and all, up on gas struts so the bed is open to reach into; Stage 3a has one gate and Stage 3b has two. Slide-outs (Stage 3a and 3c) roll heavy gear out to the tailgate.

Will it work with my tonneau cover?

With most soft and roll-up covers, yes: the Wide Width brackets hold the rack 3" above the bed rails, the same clearance as our racks for other trucks. Tri-folds fit but can't fold all the way open under it. For a Retrax XR or a soft topper, use the matching XTR1 Silverado/Sierra 1500 rack listed in the box at the top.

Can I buy the rack now and add Stage parts later?

Yes, each part is sold on its own: the XTR AXS Gate Kit (choose XTR1 and your rack height, 17" or 23"), the XTR Slide Out Kit (choose Full Length and 61" or 71") and MOLLE plates (Small 12x9 for the 17" rack, Large 16x11 for 23"). Adding them later works, but costs more than the same Stage bought with the rack.

Can I change the height later?

Yes. Order the XTR1 option of the Alternate Height Kit for Silverado/Sierra 1500; it replaces the uprights and crossbars to move the rack to a new height.

Does it need drilling?

No. The rack mounts to the bed rails with the included brackets and hardware. Install guides are on our instructions page.

Is it made in the USA?

Yes. It's designed and built in Wichita, Kansas.

What's the warranty?

Covered by our Lifetime Warranty.
