Our posted lead times are only estimations and rely on various factors, many times outside of our control. Historic challenging times within our industry have caused ripples in the supply chain world that have repercussions even on the smallest of components at times. As you would imagine, many companies in our industry are experiencing the same.

Our bed racks are super cool, with the ability to be customized. But this causes a series of challenges due to the thousands of possible combinations regarding compatibility, availability, etc. However, we are constantly aiming at improving our processes, hiring and training our people to achieve a reliable fulfillment process.

If you have additional questions about our lead times, please check our current estimations and reach out to our team if you need additional information. We thank you for your continued support and patience as we improve our processes.

While we would do our best to accommodate a specific need, please do not plan any trips or outings based on the estimated lead times.

THIRD PARTY PRODUCTS

Xtrusion Overland started supplying various brands that go hand in hand with our own products, to provide a complete service and help us grow. This includes products that are drop shipped. Please be advised that availability and lead times of those product are solely impacted by the third-party vendor's schedule. Many products are sold under an open inventory method, as the technology to sync inventories is limited, therefore please reach out if a specific product is needed by a specific date for us to double check with the supplier for you!

Any potential delay that occurs in the sourcing, processing, or drop shipment at the third party level will be communicated to the best of our ability to the customer.

ESTIMATED DATE  |  LEAD TIMES

The estimated lead time provided when you placed your order is JUST AN ESTIMATE. It is not a guarantee that the product will be shipped on that date. The estimated lead time gives you some sense of what the current times to source, cut, pack and ship takes. Many times the lead time can be shorter, but likewise it can extend, depending on factors such as previous demand and current supply. We manufacture many components in house, but extenuating circumstances such as down time for maintenance or unscheduled downtimes for repairs might impact dates as well as delays related to our sourced components. There is a constant flow of parts and shipments, and sometimes the visibility becomes a challenge to pinpoint exactly when your product will ship.

Feel free to check on your order at any time. Be aware that our customer service team may not be able to give you an exact date for completion but rest assured we are tracking your order and it will be built in the order that it was received.

Xtrusion Overland also reserves the right to cancel items from an order, offer an alternative substitution or issue refund accordingly when product is delayed at an unacceptable time frame or at the request of the customer.

Rack Angle Guide

Overland Rack Angle Compatibility

One Angle.
Every Build.

XTR bed racks use three rack angles — 9°, 13°, and 20° — each matched to specific vehicle setups and accessory families. Find the right angle for your build so every rail, crossbar, and mounting kit lines up perfectly.

Engineered quality

CNC billet strength

We didn't just join the strong extrusions with some sheet metal corner brackets — we put the aluminum where it makes a difference. Every angle variant uses the same 6061-T6 Aerospace grade billet, machined to precision to join all components with exact angular alignment.

  • ✓ All three angles share the same billet standard
  • ✓ 9°, 13°, and 20° brackets machined to exact specs
  • ✓ No sheet metal corners — pure aerospace aluminum
CNC billet corner brackets for XTR bed racks — available in 9°, 13°, and 20° angles

Angle Compatibility

Rack Angle Product Line Compatible Accessories
9° Gladiator Series All Gladiator bed racks (XTR1, XTR3 and XBRS), Gladiator mounting kits, Gladiator-specific crossbars, including Softopper versions on Gladiator.
13° Soft Topper Series Soft Topper bed racks for all truck models (except Gladiator).
20° Universal / Crossbars All XTR1, XTR3, XBRS Bed Racks, universal mounting rails, standard rack accessories (except Gladiator or Softopper)
9-degree Gladiator rail crossbar — XTR Gladiator series rack angle
9° angle

Gladiator Series

The 9° angle is dedicated to the Gladiator product line. This angle was engineered specifically for Gladiator rails and their mounting geometry, ensuring a flush, secure connection between your rails and any Xtrusion add-on accessories. This includes Softopper Gladiator Builds and XBRS for Gladiator.

Xo Skeleton Note: The XO.SKLTN Uses a complete different system not to be confused with Gladiator XTR 9 Degree components.

13-degree Soft Topper rail crossbar — XTR Soft Topper series rack angle
13° angle

Soft Topper Series

The 13° angle serves Soft Topper products. This intermediate angle provides the right compromise between load clearance and low profile when mounting accessories to Soft Topper rails and their compatible hardware.

Crossbars: XTR1 and XTR3 use 13° when mounted on Soft Topper setups.

20-degree universal rack crossbar — XTR universal and crossbar series
20° angle

Universal / Crossbars

The 20° angle is the default for all other Xtrusion products — universal mounting rails, standard crossbars, and general overland rack accessories. This is the most common angle in the industry and works with the widest range of roof rack and truck bed rack systems.

XBRS: XBRS crossbars use 20° components, the same as XTR1 and XTR3, so the joints stay compatible if you upgrade to a full rack. The one exception is XBRS for the Jeep Gladiator, which uses 9°.

Quick Reference

Xo Skeleton — Angle Breakdown

The Xo Skeleton uses two angles Gladiator Specific or Universal. However, some accessories might be compatible with both, because the top rail consolidates both angles into one. Crossbar mounts or awning mounts are compatible with both versions.

9° Angle

XOSKLTN Gladiator
Xo Skeleton Gladiator 9-degree angle
  • Gladiator rail mounts
  • Gladiator-specific hardware
  • Gladiator crossbar slots

13° Angle

XOSKLTN
Xo Skeleton Soft Topper 13-degree angle
  • Soft Topper rail mounts
  • Soft Topper mounting kits
  • Soft Topper crossbar slots

Note: The Xo Skeleton never uses the 20° angle.

How To Choose

The Right Rack Angle,
Explained

Every XTR accessory — crossbars, mounting brackets, add-on hardware — is cut for one specific angle. The right angle depends on your primary rail system or vehicle setup. Choosing the matching angle ensures every component in your build aligns correctly and carries load as designed.

  • Identify your rail system. Gladiator = 9°, Soft Topper = 13°, universal = 20°.
  • Check your crossbar type. XTR1/XTR3 come in all three — order the one matching your rails.
  • Stick to one angle per build. Mixing angles creates misalignment and stress points.
What determines the rack angle I need? +
Your rack angle is determined by your primary rail system or vehicle setup. Gladiator rails use 9°, Soft Topper setups use 13°, and universal or standard rack accessories use 20°. Choosing the matching angle ensures every accessory — crossbars, mounting brackets, and add-ons — aligns correctly.
Can I use a 20° crossbar with a Gladiator rail? +
No. Gladiator rails are engineered for 9° accessories. Using a 20° crossbar on a Gladiator rail will result in misalignment and improper load transfer. Always match your crossbar angle to your rail system.
Do Soft Toppers and Gladiator rails use the same angle? +
No. Soft Toppers use a 13° angle while Gladiator rails use a 9° angle. These angles are not interchangeable. If you're building with both types, you'll need separate angle-specific accessory sets.
Are XTR1 and XTR3 crossbars angle-specific? +
XTR1 and XTR3 crossbars come in three angle variants — 9°, 13°, and 20° — to match each rack system. The 20° variant is the default and works with universal racks. The 13° variant is used when paired with Soft Topper setups. Order the angle that matches your primary rail system.
Why do overland racks use different angles? +
Different rack angles exist to accommodate varying vehicle roof geometries, rail profiles, and load requirements. The 9° angle works well with Gladiator-style tubular rails. The 13° angle provides a middle ground for Soft Topper mounting systems. The 20° angle is the industry standard for universal applications and offers maximum load clearance.

Description

Fits every 2004-and-newer Ford F-150 with the 5.5-ft or 6.5-ft bed, in any cab. Designed and built in Wichita, Kansas.

An F-150 often works the jobsite all week and turns into a camp rig on Friday night. This listing sets it up for both in a single order. You get the XTR3, our highest-rated bed rack, with the gear wall, gates and trays already matched to it: eight MOLLE panels, AXS side gates and half-length slide-outs, grouped into Stage packages that cost less than adding the same parts later. The rack stands on top of the bed rails, so the full-size bed underneath stays open for tool boxes, coolers and drawers. Each one is built to order, to your height requirements, and the T-slot profile construction takes a rooftop tent, ladder stops or recovery boards without a single hole drilled.

Running a soft topper or a Retrax cover, or after a lighter rack? Every other F-150 rack is listed under "Not the right F-150 rack?" near the bottom of this page.

CHECK THESE TWO THINGS FIRST: BED LENGTH AND COVER

  • Bed length. A 5.5-ft bed is "Short Bed" in the menu (58" rack); a 6.5-ft bed is "Regular Bed" (66" rack). The 8-ft bed isn't offered here, so call (316) 330-0024 about an 8-ft F-150.
  • Open bed, or a soft or roll-up tonneau? Order here. The Wide Width bed rail brackets lift the rack 3" over the rails, 1.65" more than our Standard Width bracket, which is enough for most soft and roll-up covers to work underneath. Tri-fold covers fit too, though they won't fold completely open with the rack on.
  • Retrax XR or Retrax EQ? Go to the XTR3 F-150 rack for Retrax covers. It mounts to the Retrax T-slot rails, and the cover keeps opening beneath it.
  • Softopper, Fas-Top or Bestop? Go to the XTR3 F-150 Soft Topper rack: 24" tall, with the uprights set at 13.3° so they clear the fabric.
  • Roll-N-Lock XT, Pace Edwards UltraGroove or any cover with built-in T-slot rails? Send us a note at [email protected] first, and we'll confirm whether it works.

Why the XTR3 for an F-150

  • Four bays across a full-size bed. The XTR3 has six uprights instead of four. The extra pair stands at the middle of the 58" or 66" rack, so each side is split into a front and a rear bay with separate side braces. Give the front bays a MOLLE wall for tools and the rear bays traction boards and fuel, and still run a tent or a ladder across the top.
  • The highest rating we make. Evenly distributed, the XTR3 is rated 1,750 lb parked, 850 lb on the road and 500 lb off-road. For comparison, the four-upright XTR1 carries 1,550 / 850 / 450 lb.
  • Accessories cut for the F-150 rack. Stage MOLLE plates match your height (12x9 at 17", 16x11 at 23"), and the slide-out trays are cut to your 58" or 66" rack length. Depending on Stage, height and bed, a package saves about $130 to $245 over the same parts bought separately.
  • Aluminum that won't rust in the bed. The frame is 1.5" x 3.0" aluminum T-slot extrusion, powder-coated black, and the whole rack comes in at roughly 80–110 lb depending on height.

The trade-offs: the XTR3 starts $500 above the XTR1, weighs more, and its center columns limit slide-outs to half length. For a full-length tray or a lower price, the XTR1 Pre-configured F-150 rack comes in the same two heights and Stages on four uprights.

Choose your Stage

Stage What's included with the rack Good for
1 Nothing extra Hauling a rooftop tent, ladders or cargo right away and picking accessories down the road
2 Eight MOLLE plates Panels on both sides for tools, a shovel, lights and recovery boards
3a Eight MOLLE plates, one AXS gate, one slide-out The package F-150 owners order most: a side gate that lifts for reaching into the bed, and one tray that rolls cargo out to you
3b Eight MOLLE plates, two AXS gates Getting into a full-size bed from either side, even with a tent or load up top
3c Eight MOLLE plates, two slide-outs Two trays that roll out the coolers, tools or camp kitchen you use most

Some photos show add-ons that aren't part of every Stage; those are sold separately.

17" or 23": picking a height for your F-150

  • 23" cab height lifts the crossbars toward the F-150's roofline and opens up the most space below for tall cases and tool boxes. It uses the 16x11 MOLLE plates, and it's the height most F-150 owners pick on this rack.
  • 17" mid height keeps a tent or load lower behind the cab, sits lower in the wind, leaves more garage clearance and uses the 12x9 MOLLE plates.

Tent, ladder or kayak reaching over the cab? Measure your truck first: go from the top of the bed rail up to the tallest point of the cab, counting any antenna or roof rack, and plan for at least 1" of clearance above that. Short of room at 23"? The XTR3 Custom Height F-150 rack can be ordered anywhere from 10" to 26", one inch at a time. Or stay at 23" and raise the tent itself with a riser (the XTR Tent Riser Kit is on the way).

Sized to the F-150's 5.5-ft and 6.5-ft beds

The 5.5-ft box (about 67" of floor) takes our 58" rack, and the 6.5-ft box (about 79") takes the 66" rack. Not sure which one you have? Run a tape along the floor from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate. Pick your year range in the menu as well, so the rack ships with the right parts for your truck. It clamps to the bed rails with the included pinch plates, so nothing sits on the bed floor.

Dress up the tailgate with the XTR Offroad TrailGate panel for the F-150 and Raptor, made for 2009-and-newer trucks.

What's in the box

The XTR3 rack, included with every Stage:

  • 3 top crossbars and 6 uprights
  • 4 side braces and 4 top support braces in black 1530 extrusion
  • 6 Wide Width bed rail brackets, with pinch plates that clamp them to the bed rails
  • 6 top corner brackets
  • Screws and hardware to assemble the rack
  • Black XTR Off-Road Reinforcement Plates — Set of 4, one per corner ($149 value)
  • Set of 4 metal handles ($40 value)
  • Sixteen 5/16"-18 drop-in T-nuts ($13 value) and sixteen 5/16"-18 x 5/8" button head screws ($16 value) for your first accessories

Stages 2 through 3c also include eight MOLLE plates, sized 12x9 for a 17" rack or 16x11 for a 23" rack. Stages 3a–3c add the AXS gate kits and half-length slide-outs shown in the table above, with the slide-outs cut to a 58" or 66" rack.

Load rating

Keep the load evenly spread: up to 1,750 lb parked, 850 lb on the road and 500 lb off-road, unless your F-150's bed rails are rated lower, in which case their rating applies. The rack and everything on it also count against the truck's payload, which on an F-150 changes a lot with cab, engine and options. Your number is printed on the Tire and Loading Information sticker on the driver's door frame.

Ford F-150 XTR3 Bed Rack: FAQ

Which F-150s does this rack fit?

Every 2004-and-newer F-150 with the 5.5-ft or 6.5-ft box, in any cab. Pick your year range (2004–2008, 2009–2014, 2015–2020 or 2021+) and Short Bed (5.5 ft) or Regular Bed (6.5 ft). The 8-ft box isn't on this listing; call (316) 330-0024 and we'll tell you what fits.

How do I tell a 5.5-ft bed from a 6.5-ft bed?

Tape the bed floor from the bulkhead back to the shut tailgate. Roughly 67" means the 5.5-ft bed (Short Bed in the menu); roughly 79" means the 6.5-ft bed (Regular Bed).

Does it fit the F-150 Raptor?

Yes. Raptors have the 5.5-ft box, so choose your year range and Short Bed.

XTR3 or XTR1: which suits my F-150?

Go with the XTR3 for heavy, mixed loads, like a tent on top of a full MOLLE wall, or if you want the front and rear bays set up differently. Go with the XTR1 to save $500 or to run full-length slide-outs; it has four uprights, no center columns and a 1,550 / 850 / 450 lb rating. You get the same 17" and 23" heights and the same five Stages on either rack.

Will it work with my tonneau cover?

Most soft and roll-up covers work, because the Wide Width brackets raise the rack 3" off the rails. Tri-fold covers go on too, but the rack stops them from folding all the way up. For a Retrax XR or EQ, a soft topper, or another cover with T-slot rails, see the box near the top of this page for the right rack or a fit check.

Can I put a rooftop tent on it, and which height should I pick?

Yes. Mount it with our stainless Rooftop Tent Brackets. Add up the tent, everyone sleeping in it and the rest of your rack load, and stay under 500 lb off-road, 850 lb on pavement and 1,750 lb when parked, or under your bed rail rating if it's lower. If the tent stays over the bed, both heights work. If it reaches over the cab, measure from the bed rail to the top of your cab, antenna or roof rack, add at least 1", and choose a height that clears it; the XTR3 Custom Height rack goes up to 26".

Can it carry ladders, lumber or kayaks?

Yes. Long loads ride on the three top crossbars, and the T-slot lets you put ladder stops, tie-down points and work lights wherever you need them. Keep the load within the 850 lb on-road rating, strap it down with rated straps, and check that it clears the cab before you drive.

What does the AXS gate do?

An AXS gate takes the place of one side brace and swings up on gas struts, carrying its MOLLE plate with it. That opens the side of the rack so you can grab gear from the middle of the bed without climbing in over the tailgate, which helps on a full-size truck. Most F-150 owners who order this rack get at least one, in Stage 3a or 3b.

Can I buy the Stage parts separately later?

You can, though a Stage costs less. For an XTR AXS Gate Kit, select XTR3, your rack height and No Extra Side Brace. For the XTR Slide Out Kit, select Half Length, then 58" L (5.5-ft bed) or 66" L (6.5-ft bed). For MOLLE plates, it's Small 12x9 on a 17" rack and Large 16x11 on a 23" rack.

Can I change the rack's height later?

Yes. The XTR1/3 Alternate Height and Conversion Kit for the F-150 has the parts to move your rack to a new height.

Do I have to drill my truck, and how does it ship?

There's no drilling. The Wide Width bed rail brackets clamp to your F-150's bed rails with the pinch plates that come in the box. The XTR3 install video and our instructions page walk through it, and the rack arrives in 2–3 boxes.

Where is it made?

In our shop in Wichita, Kansas, where it's designed and built.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, our Lifetime Warranty covers it.
